While vaping is often seen as a “safer” alternative to smoking, it comes with a hidden environmental cost. Disposable vapes and e-cigarette products are designed for one-time use, contributing to significant plastic waste. The production of these devices also involves harmful chemicals and the emission of carbon dioxide. The growing popularity of vaping has led to increased production and disposal of these single-use products, which are not biodegradable and often end up in landfills or the ocean. Many people overlook how the lithium-ion batteries used in vapes and e-cigarettes can be hazardous if not disposed of properly, adding to environmental pollution. Raising awareness about the environmental impacts of vaping, particularly among young people, can help curb the growth of this habit while encouraging more sustainable alternatives like reusable vaporizers or better waste management practices.
