The carbon footprint refers to the total amount of greenhouse gases, particularly carbon dioxide, that are released into the atmosphere as a result of human activities such as transportation, energy consumption, and industrial processes. High carbon footprints contribute directly to global warming and climate change.

Reducing our carbon footprint involves making conscious decisions to lower our personal, organizational, and societal emissions. This can be achieved through energy conservation, using renewable energy sources, reducing waste, switching to eco-friendly transportation (e.g., electric vehicles or biking), and adopting sustainable practices in daily life, like eating a plant-based diet or buying locally-produced goods. By collectively reducing our carbon footprints, we can slow down the pace of climate change and work toward a more sustainable future.
